Visited BATA JEM at about 9.15pm having the intention to purchase a new pair of shoes for my mum. Requested to try out the pair of heels of a smaller size, he went in for quite some time and came out empty handed. He took the heels that was requested into the store room and came out saying that it is out of stock. So, we asked for the same pair of heels of a different colour. He came out with the bigger size, when asked to try a smaller size, he came out with the colour choice we were interested in. Staff were wearing earpiece and showed no interest in dealing with us. The unwillingness of the staff affected our shopping experience negatively.

This Bata outlet rocks because their sales staff cares - unlike their dispirited colleagues in neighborhood malls. Yes. Here they actually welcomes you cheerfully. Kept their distance while you browse then magically appears besides you with a "buying signal". The big picture is good merchandising. Strategically placed signs announced packages such as "two pair for $89" - pairing men and women shoes. A huge selection of "$39.95" adores the wall. "Wide sizing" stickers, clear price labels, and curated displays won our hearts and wallets. We bought two pairs and signed up for the free lifetime Bata membership with 100 points as a start. Cheers. Who says BATA means buy and throwaway? This is BATA of Singapore in the 1960s
